Al-Qaeda terrorist tool kit includes ISI training manuals - Indian Express

Al-Qaeda has introduced a new online course in operational security in which militants can directly study from some of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)’s training manuals, according to a new report by a Jordan-based intelligence expert.

The report by Abdul Hameed Bakier at The Jamestown Foundation said that Al-Qaeda’s Global Islamic Media Front has posted the documents on jihadi Internet forums.

However, it is not clear how the terrorist network got its hands on the documents of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency.

The course starts with an introduction to basic espionage terms, then moves into ways to screen potential mujahideen members.

They “should be Muslims, enjoy a certain degree of education and be religiously motivated and ‘non-mundane’,” the Washington Post quoted the report, as saying.

Subsequent classes deal with secure communications in the age of the Internet and mobile phones.

There is even an advanced course on “deep cover”, or the use of intricately fabricated false identities to penetrate the enemy.

The report also says that the courses have been translated from Urdu to English “for the benefit of mujahideen in America and Europe... an indication of where the mujahideen are planning their future terror attacks.”
